Cerebral dominance in spatial hearing and working memory abilities in adults with normal hearing sensitivity

چکیده
Abstract Background Cerebral dominance refers to the biological description of brain, where one cerebral hemisphere is dominant over other in certain functions. There scanty literature on and its impact auditory spatial processing working memory, which explored study. Methods A total 45 participants with normal hearing were divided into three groups 15 participants. The categorized based scores obtained alert scale cognitive style checklist as bilateral dominant, left right group. was assessed using interaural time difference (ITD), level (ILD), virtual acoustic space identification (VASI) tests, whereas memory abilities tested forward span, backward ascending digit descending 2n back tests. Results MONOVA results indicated that there no significant main effect all In hearing, although ILD thresholds not influenced by dominance, seen VASI accuracy scores. Post-hoc analyses showed group demonstrated significantly better perception compared groups, latter showing similar performance. Conclusions While ITD tests fall short revealing asymmetry, VASI’s power capturing effects makes it a valuable tool assessment. study’s findings highlight need for assessing before administering

Auditory Perception and Verbal Intelligibility in Children with Cochlear Implant, Hearing Aids and Normal Hearing
Objective: The aim of the present research was to compare the auditory perception and verbal intelligibility in children with cochlear implant, hearing aids and normal hearing. Methods: 60 children aged 5-7 years were divided to three groups and each group contained 20 children. The first and second groups were selected ordinarily from children with cochlear implant and hearing aids by conve...
متن کاملDegree of Hearing Loss and Working Memory in Adults
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between hearing loss and working memory using an automated visual, verbal working memory task in adults with hearing loss. An exploratory, prospective, group design was used to evaluate the performance of 29 adults with varying hearing loss severity. Findings reported here are from a subset of data taken from a larger training study. Par...

Objectives: Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) are sounds that originate in cochlea and are measured in external auditory canal and provide a simple, efficient and non-invasive objective indicator of healthy cochlear function. Olivo cochlear bundle (OCB) or auditory efferent system is a neural feedback pathway which originated from brain stem and terminated in the inner ear and can be evaluated non-i...
متن کاملAuditory sensory memory and working memory processes in children with normal hearing and cochlear implants.
There can be wide variation in the level of oral/aural language ability that prelingually hearing-impaired children develop after cochlear implantation. Automatic perceptual processing mechanisms have come under increasing scrutiny in attempts to explain this variation. Using mismatch negativity methods, this study explored associations between auditory sensory memory mechanisms and verbal work...
